For a healthy, vegetable-heavy curry in Tokyo, try curry shop Camp. Their fantastic curry is served at 7 shops in Tokyo (24 in Japan) and they all share a fun camping theme.
You’ll Feel Like You’re Camping
This camping theme is in full effect at every shop. Camp’s walls are plastered with trail maps and on top of the dining tables are industrial-sized Coleman lanterns and worn-out metal canteens.
Fully-Loaded Vegetable Curry
Now their curry is unlike any you’ve ever tasted. Camp throws in a lot of different spices, including turmeric. The curry is thick like Japanese curry rice, but all the spices together create an explosion of flavors.
Fully-loaded Vegetables Curry: ¥990
Their “Fully-loaded Vegetables Curry” includes 11 different vegetables – among them paprika, cabbage, potato, and pumpkin. For the curry sauce, you can 1 choose from 3:
Original (Tomato & Chicken)
Green Thai (Vegitalian)
Spicy Indian (Hot)
Pictured here is the original. Since the vegetables are so varied, the taste is too with every bite. Veggies like celery and tomato provide a watery cool taste while pumpkin and potato soak up the curry more intensely.
Camp also offers limited time curries – everything from asparagus and bacon curry to mushroom and gorgonzola cheese chicken curry. But their go-to dish will forever be the Fully-loaded Vegetables Curry.
