In Japan’s cultural capital of Kyoto, visitors will be blown away at Vegans Cafe & Restaurant. Their vegan miso ramen is outstanding, a true work of art. Their many other 100% organic and vegan dishes (including their pizza) are equally impressive and visually stunning. Vegan or not, this restaurant is a must visit in Kyoto.
Vegans Cafe & Restaurant is located near the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine. Their menus are in English too.
Their decor is simple and homely.
As mentioned, there’s plenty of variety…starting with creamy vegan pizzas and your choice of crispy or doughy crust.
Vegan Casserole, Vegan Pizza
Pictured below is their “Keema Curry Style Brown Rice Casserole with White Sauce”. The soy cheese is magnificently creamy. ¥1,404 for this one.
Below is their Margherita pizza with doughy crust. ¥1,944.
Outstanding Vegan Miso Ramen
The grand finale…their vegan miso ramen. This dish should be in a museum. The soy base ensures the broth is creamy and it intermingles with flavors flowing from the corn, bean sprouts, lotus roots, and other vegetables locally grown in Kyoto.
Might be the most beautiful bowl of ramen I’ve ever seen
Pictured is the regular (futsu) size, which is ¥1,350. The regular is quite hefty as it is. The larger (omori) size is ¥1,550.
You can also get the ramen without veggies for ¥1,080. But why would you want to do that?
It’s simply outstanding ramen and the fact that it’s vegan, a guiltless bonus.
Regardless of your stance on meat, if you plan to visit Fushimi Inari Shrine, you need to stop by this place.
